Australian Gold Tanning Tips

The best way to prolong your tan is to keep skin healthy and hydrated. This involves moisturising regularly. Hot showers and baths, shaving and waxing can all dry out skin, as they can strip skin of its natural oils. Therefore, applying moisturisers after bathing and showering and as part of your daily routine will help rejuvenate and nourish skin for longer-lasting colour.

When tanning outdoors, we recommend applying an Australian Gold suncream followed by a tanning lotion. It is important to reapply sunscreen frequently throughout the day to minimise the risk of burning (every two hours as a minimum).

Showering or bathing immediately after tanning can affect the colour you retain- showering can dry out skin, preventing the colour from deepening; your skin needs to be hydrated to develop and maintain a tan. All Australian Gold Tanning Lotions, Sunscreens and Tan Extenders are designed to provide top quality skincare, allowing skin to regenerate after sun exposure. For best results we advise leaving these products on for a minimum of four hours after application.

When tanning, it is important to take into account your skin type. This will indicate how long you should be spending sun worshipping or indoor tanning- Just as people react differently to basking in the sun depending on the fairness of their skin, using a sunbed has the same effect. Knowing your skin type before bronzing on a bed will help to develop a golden glow without harming your skin.

How to apply Australian Gold Dark Tanning Accelerator:

On a sunbed:

Apply all over your body within 10 minutes of your sunbed. For best results start at your feet and work up the body in a circular motion.

Whilst sunbathing:

1. Apply your SPF 20 minutes before sun exposure

2. Layer Australian Gold Daringly Dark legs tanning lotion immediately before sun exposure

3. Reapply your sun cream and tanning cream every two hours as a minimum. This frequency should be increased if swimming, sweating or towel drying.
